With the holiday season almost here, the team at deliberatepractice wanted to take the opportunity to wish you a very merry and safe Christmas and New Year!
As leaders and confidants in your business, your focus on ensuring that others prosper, stay safe and obtain career success often leaves little time to think of yourself. Hopefully over the coming weeks you will have plenty of time to spend with the ones you love, doing what you enjoy, and taking a little time to reflect on your year ahead.
2014 will be yet another year full of challenge and opportunity. It will be your positive attitude, your ability to influence the attitudes of those around you, and your focus on your goals that will define your success. As the American Philosopher Nicholas M. Butler said, “Optimism is essential to achievement and it is also the foundation of courage and true progress.”
So use your optimism and consider Brian Tracy’s Seven Step Process for Setting and Achieving Your Goals:
- First, decide exactly what you want in each area of your life. Be specific!
- Second, write it down, clearly and in detail.
- Third, set a specific deadline. If it is a large goal, break it down into sub-deadlines and write them down in order.
- Fourth, make a list of everything you can think of that you are going to have to do to achieve your goal. As you think of new items, add them to your list.
- Fifth, organise the items on your list into a plan by placing them in the proper sequence and priority.
- Sixth, take action immediately on the most important thing you can do on your plan. This is crucial!
- Seventh, do something every day that moves you toward the attainment of one or more of your goals. Maintain the momentum!
So reflect on what you want from 2014, talk about it with others, set your plan as early as you can and get ready to achieve your goals!
Our best wishes to you and we look forward to hearing of, and contributing to, your year ahead!
