Our client is a leading agency in the Digital Marketing industry, with offices both here and overseas. As part of an overall objective to maximise organisational performance and create a “performance culture”, the company was looking to strengthen the leadership capability of the Executives as well as maximise the cohesive effectiveness of the group. An important factor to being successful in the approach taken was to ensure there was a continuous and consistent link to the company’s business drivers so as to establish the consequential ROI for the initiative.
deliberatepractice shaped the approach around Judy Rosenblum’s “Breakthrough Model” which is based around the premise “An effective strategy requires a clear picture of both where the business aims to be – destination – and where it is today – current reality”. This model was applied to link the development of the individual Executives, the group and the company’s business plan. The approach included:
1. Setting the Scene: Connecting with the Business – Executive Team Role
• 2 hour facilitated, interactive session with the Executive Group
• Objective: Overview of the program and connection to how it supports the company’s business strategy. Creating a link between the business drivers and function of the Executive team as a group and as individuals by clarifying the Executive role profile and supporting behaviours required. Establishing the link to creating a “performance culture”.
2. Leadership Assessment
• On-line assessment (psychometric leadership assessment and 360 degree survey)
• One-on-One feedback to clarify individual development opportunities and identify supporting initiatives.
• Objective: To raise self-awareness by identifying individual leadership styles and supporting development and opportunities in line with business / performance culture requirements identified in Step 1.
3. Group Cohesion – Reconnection
• 2 hour facilitated, interactive session with the Executive Group
• Objective: Bringing increased self-awareness back to the business and linking individual styles to ascertain group profile and development opportunities. Clarification of “current reality” and “destination” as a group and individually in line with the business objectives.
Outcomes
deliberatepractice worked in partnership with our client to deliver a tailored approach that enabled the participants to understand where they were at currently, both individually and as an Executive group and where they would benefit from focusing on in order to achieve their objective of maximising organisational performance and create a “performance culture”.
